Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All of your study data is stored locally on your device using secure local storage. We do not have access to this data, and it never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share it. This includes:

• Flashcard decks and individual cards you create or generate
• Study progress, review history, and performance statistics
• Study goals and learning plans
• Study method preferences and settings
• Notification preferences
• Theme preferences (light/dark mode)
• Your Google API key (if you choose to use AI features) - stored securely on your device only

Third-Party Services

Google Gemini AI

When you use the AI flashcard generation feature, your topic requests are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate flashcards. Google may process this data according to their privacy policy. We do not store your API requests or the generated content on our servers. Your Google API key is stored locally on your device and is never shared with us.

Google AdMob

Flashi displays advertisements through Google AdMob to support the free version of the app. AdMob may collect certain information to serve personalized ads, including:

• Device identifiers (such as advertising IDs)
• Approximate location data
• App usage data
• Interests and demographics (inferred from ad interactions)

Expo Notifications

We use Expo's notification service to send you local notifications for study reminders. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device and do not require any data to be sent to external servers. We only request notification permissions to help you stay on track with your studies.

What We Don't Collect

We are committed to privacy and do not collect:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Account information (we don't require user accounts)
• Your flashcard content (stored locally only)
• Study analytics or usage patterns
• Location data (except approximate location for ads, handled by AdMob)
• Contact lists or other device data

How We Use Your Information

Since we don't collect personal information or store your data on our servers, we don't use your information in the traditional sense. However:

• Local Data: All your study data is used solely within the app on your device to provide study features, track progress, and personalize your learning experience.
• AI Generation: When you request AI-generated flashcards, your topic is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate content. This is a one-time request and we don't store it.
• Advertisements: AdMob uses collected data to show you relevant advertisements. We don't control this data collection, but you can manage it through your device settings.

Data Security

Your data security is important to us:

• All study data is stored locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms
• We don't transmit your flashcard content to our servers
• Your Google API key (if used) is stored securely on your device only
• We use industry-standard security practices for local data storage

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since all your data is stored locally on your device:

• Your data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app
• You can delete individual decks, cards, or goals at any time within the app
• Uninstalling the app will remove all locally stored data
• We don't retain any copies of your data on our servers

Flashi is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
